Google’s Helpful Content Update Completes Roll Out

Google confirmed earlier this month that December’s helpful content update has now finished rolling out.

This update focused on penalizing sites where content was unhelpful for users and ultimately used to game search engines.

Although it’s perhaps too early to say which industry this has impacted the most, there are clear signs showing that we expected most sites to have felt any impact in the last week of December and first week of January:

This chart taken from algoroo.com highlights the weather change in search visibility over the past month.

Early signs from Algoroo suggest the biggest winners to be health and travel websites whilst the biggest losers tend to be car insurance.
